Eames/Arthur
With permission: This whole thing was inspired by bookshop's beautiful ideas about Eames and Arthur. In most worlds, they probably don't work out, but there's no reason why we can't focus on the ones where they do.

Because I just don't get loveCollapse )

"In most worlds, they probably don't work out, but there's no reason why we can't focus on the ones where they do."

oh my god, how are you so perceptive? (and being bloody good at what you do doesn't hurt either...) I love your take on how forgers tick and how eames ticks...

Eames slowly stops hoping, and it comes through in how he no longer addresses Arthur by pet names. He starts ironing his pants again, even if he does keep the one orange-brown monstrosity of a polo as his last shred of hope.

Having read bookshop's post, all your lines seem to have a double meaning that I just can't grasp properly... I feel this is so much deeper than I can fathom (so eames changes himself to match what he thinks arthur wants/needs because as a forger, it just comes naturally to him?) most likely this isn't meant to be understood, only to be appreciated, and I'm going to bookmark this so I can savor it some other day and puzzle out the meaning of life through your beautiful words... thanks for sharing...

I am so flattered by this comment, thank you so much. ;_;

I realized afterward how much random feeling I crammed into this fic, and I'm glad that none of it got in the way of your enjoyment of it! As for understanding--I'm pleased as punch that you're trying to find the meaning in it. I think it's just going to have to work like Inception, where you populate the dream with your projections--you get your own meaning out of the relationship. ;D

Oh Chris Nolan, never stop supplying the world with storytelling metaphors.

I'm glad the happy ending wasn't too silly. ♥

Is there anything more Eames/Arthur than company secrets crooned from a jukebox? I think not.

Thank you. ♥

O god, your Eames was like perfection.

“Is that what being a forger is about? Falling a little in love with everyone?” Arthur asks, and it is seven years past the inception job.

“That’s part of it,” Eames agrees, because it is the future now, and he is so terribly tired.

“What’s the other part?” Arthur demands, but Eames thinks he already knows, because he looks a little scared.

“It is wanting to be in love with them,” Eames replies. “It is giving yourself away and accepting them wholeheartedly. It is getting to know them better than you’ve ever known yourself.”

Loved this. Brilliant story.

This fic is heartbreaking.

Wow. I can't believe how emo I am right now. Even with a happy ending. Because it's not actually happy for a very long time, is it? The life of quiet desperation when worn by Tom Hardy's face makes me need to take a pill.

Very lovely writing.

Oh, this utterly broke my heart. OH, EAMES.

Lovely and brilliant. Thank you.

I love me some angsty Eames, and this is certainly that and so much more. AGH words, you've deserted me.
